Letters

Pianist Paul Badura-Skoda and composer Frank Martin carried on a vivid exchange of letters from 1965 to 1974. In this period, Martin composed two major works for piano on behalf of Badura-Skoda: Second Piano Concerto (1968/69) and Fantaisie sur des rythmes flamenco (1973). The letters reproduced here show the close collaboration and mutual trust between composer and pianist, a musical piece of contemporary history. (In English, French, and German.)
