Originally published as one of three pieces in a set titled Alt-Wiener Tanzweisen (Old Viennese Dances), Liebesleid (Love's Sorrow) is a short piece for violin and piano composed by Fritz Kreisler. The Austrian-American violinist and composer often performed these pieces as encores in his own concerts, and later published them for solo piano. Fritz Kreisler. Liebesleid was notably arranged for virtuosic piano by Sergei Rachmaninoff, a friend of Kreisler. This arrangement for Alto Saxophone and Piano was transcribed by Jascha Gurewich.
