Like Our Fathers was a commission from Usdan's Center of the Arts Wind Ensemble; it was my first composition for wind ensemble and is one of my best selling works. Though I have figured out much about writing for wind ensemble since that time, I have always had a fondness for the honesty and simplicity of this work (though it is a bit less refined than my current standards).
This piece was written for a specific-sized ensemble, so some liberty can be taken in coverage assignments; for example, the bassoons can double the trombone parts, etc.
Included in the parts, but not the score, is a bassoon part, which is a direct copy of the bass clarinet part.
