Longing is a solo piece for the Horn in F. It was written six months
  after
    
    the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions were put in place and the soulful timbre
  of the horn expresses my longing for life as we knew it.

This piece is written for percussion quartet and narrator.  It is a musical expression of my concern and frustration about the polarization and divisiveness in the country today making civil discourse almost impossible.  Certain groups are marginalized and often scapegoated - their perspectives are often not heard.  People are quick to judge others and respond hatefully and often violently.  Solutions to urgent societal problems are not forthcoming because leaders do not listen to each other and collaborate with open minds and thoughtfully.  They often act selfishly instead of making decisions for the common good of the people.

The title '955 Streets' refers to the number of streets in the U.S. named for Martin Luther King.  It seemed to fit this piece since leaders find it easy to rename a street but not easy to work to create a more just and equal community for all.

Percussion Quartet

What Is was written for Solo Percussion. The instrumentation includes
  Kick Drum, Snare, Low and High Bongos, Cymbal, Cowbell, Jam Block and
  Tambourine.
    
    The title represents the listener's experience. The form of the piece
  doesn't fit a specific style so as it unfolds, the listener experiences 'what
  is' with no preconceived idea or clue to what's coming next. The idea is to
  be fully present in the moment, just noticing and enjoying what happens.

Percussion Book

T Squared, composed for string quartet, is an exploration of timbre and
  is presented in three sections. The first section ia a lively spirited
  'conversation' among the members of the quartet. The second section contains
  three cycles of call and response phrasing with each instrument alternating
  parts and character. The last section is a reiteration of the opening two
  patterns - this time played much slower and bowed to produce a more lyrical
  and reflective feeling.

Lane Shift Ahead is written for a six player Percussion Ensemble consisting of Marimba, Vibraphone, Xylophone, Glockenspiel and non-pitched percussion. It was inspired by Steve Reich's Nagoya Marimbas and John Adams' Short Ride in a Fast Machine.
