Lo, How a Rose E'er Blooming

A modern a cappella work from Swedish composer Marten Jansson that artfully combines syllabic rhythmic elements of modern a cappella singing with beautiful choral harmonies and phrasing in a polyrhythmic setting to present this beloved Advent hymn. Jansson says of this work, "I have embedded this internationally well-known melody in a harmonic room of bells which is rendered by the male voices. To enhance the feeling of two independent entities, the melody and the bell ostinato are performed in different meters. Tension increases in the second verse when the melody is performed in canon but dissipates at the end of the piece." Perform in English, German or Swedish.
