Lo, How a Rose E'er Blooming

This lovely carol dates from 15th century Germany. Both words and music are from unknown sources, but Michael Praetorius' harmonization of the carol in 1609 remains virtually unchanged. This arrangement for saxophone quartet takes a few liberties with that harmonization, though it doesn't stray too far – just enough to add a little unexpected difference.
