Londonderry Air

This easy big band release from 1954 features a beautiful trumpet solo, played as written, in an expressive ballad setting. Flowing legato figures dominate throughout, and a brief trombone solo and a 16-bar sax section soli provides young soloists with important resting time. All rhythm section parts are fully notated, brass rhythms are very accessible, and no improvisation is required. This scoring for full big band is also playable by as few as 3 saxes, 3 brass and rhythm, and each set includes optional parts for tuba and vibes.
