A powerful congregational hymn, based upon a poem that I wrote after
visiting Romania for the first time in October 1990. Even on its own, as an
instrumental solo, the piano part is a majestically powerful piece of music,
which can be made to work well on a large organ. 'Lord, we await' was the
first piece I wrote in response to what might be described as a humanitarian
situation. Ever since my university days Ive had a heart for central and
eastern Europe - dont ask me why or how, thats just the way it is. Having
worked in Ukraine, the situation there breaks my heart and the Christians who
continue to worship God through adversity deserve our heartfelt support.
