Lucid Dreaming

Lucid dreaming is defined as the conscious perception of one's state while dreaming, resulting in a much clearer experience and sometimes enabling direct control over the content of the dream. Inspired by this concept, the composition Lucid Dreaming provides a sonic representation of a lucid dream. There are several main rhythmic themes that occur throughout the entire work. These themes occur in a variety of ways, sometimes strongly stated, sometimes subtle, and in a variety of tempos and meters. Throughout, the themes act much like characters in a story. At times they work together, while at other times there is conflict between them. Lucid Dreaming does not depict a specific dream, but instead allows the listener to create their own images, thereby having some control over their own lucid dream.
