Lullabies I play my children, Volume 1

Lullabies I play my children began immediately after my wife, Arie Thiede, gave birth to our twin boy and girl. What seemed like a simple effortshort, simple tunesbecame a resurgence of creative meaning in my artistic life. I finished my PhD in composition from the University of North Texas in 2020; at the height of the pandemic, I could say I accomplished one of the most difficult achievements during my lifetime. With job freezes in the arts, I went on to work at an Amazon warehouse for the better part of the year. I was burnt out on music as I struggled to find meaning in the harsh post-academic world. Two years later, with the birth of my twins, I found myself taking on new meaning in my artistic life with these lullabies. Practically, they are meant to soothe the ears of both babes and adults alike. If I can be honest, I wrote these lullabies with my adult children in mindI have no idea who they might become, but at least I can give them this gift: "the music my heart sings."
