  shores of the Grand Haven Lighthouse and Pier.

The Golden Pier

This lyrical piece creates a meditation session, emerging from turbulent yet fluid currents of energy into calm, healing, and peaceful serenity.

Additional, optional parts are included. If Vibraphone or Marimba can be assigned, this piece serves as an introduction to 3-mallet keyboard technique.

Meditation and Hymn to Nature

Inspired by the composer's home state of Michigan, this lyrical piece
  depicts a beautiful sunset on the shores of the Grand Haven Lighthouse and
  Pier. This piece features an extended technique - blowing air through the
  instrument non-pitched - in several of the wind and brass parts, as well as
  the mysterious sounds of the ocean drum in the percussion section.

Commissioned in 2019 by composer and jazz pianist Kevin Day, as well as
  Dr. Jordan VanHemert and the Holland Concert Jazz Orchestra, each of the four
  contrasting tunes that comprise this suite transforms realistic concepts into
  fantastic, dream-like musical numbers, showcasing the ensemble's pianist on
  various different keyboards in this tour-de-force, virtuosic work. This piece
  features doublings for all saxophones, all trumpets, and keyboard.

Brass Band Part

This majestic work, arranged for flex/adaptable ensembles, creates a
  powerful statement depicting one of Grand Ledge, Michigan's most famous
  historical monuments, the Ledges - an epic concert opener suitable for any
  program. The original concert band version of this piece was premiered at The
  17th Annual Michigan Music Conference in 2022.
