Madrigal

Originally scored for five voices, Thomas Morley's My Bonnie Lass translates beautifully to string orchestra. The melody is skillfully shared between all sections of the ensemble. Tutti sections alternate with simple counterpoint, while the arrangement stays light, airy, and firmly rooted in G major. The single meter change can be negotiated without losing any character or sixteenth-century style.
