Crossing the Bar was originally composed by Daniel Protheroe for male chorus. Although this arrangement is instrumental, performers should keep the text in mind during preparation - particularly as it pertains to phrasing. This setting of the 19th century English song, "Blow the Man Down," is intended to move like a story line, while maintaining the song's original "call and response" flow.
