May We Know the Peace of Christ

The gentle, almost lullaby-like 3/4 feel of this hymn setting features an original hymn tune by the composer, who also wrote the text. Appropriate for assembly singing, it includes parts for solo instruments in C and cello. Over five verses, the hopeful text deals with topics of charity, Christian life, God's love for us, joy, and peace. While the end of the verses has a short, motivically based turnaround, a longer optional interlude is also provided to allow the assembly to reflect on the text between verses or, if needed, extend the liturgical moment.
