Meridian

This music celebrates the life of Adrienne Grunow. It combines her rhythm and vibration with things that are dear to her. By listening and performing ADRIENNE'S BLISS, you will have the honor of getting to know her and her spirit will live on. All three movements are available as a set. The set is listed separately. Adrienne was devoted to the Meridian Community Band (the commissioning body for this work). In many ways she represents the heart of the organization. The opening movement, Meridian, is a spirited march commemorating this devotion. She embodies the pulse of the band, so it is fitting that the rhythm of her first, middle, maiden, and married names (Adrienne Bliss Copeland Grunow) serve as the primary generating material for the music (according to her father, some of her favorite band works were Sousa marches). The theme is present most clearly after the brief introduction and is infused in varying ways throughout the movement.
