Metroliner, with its 16th-note contemporary groove, portrays the chugging and propulsive feel of a train ride through America's northeast corridor. This uniquely funky programmatic chart was awarded runner-up in the 2016 Ithaca College Jazz Ensemble Composition Contest. It opens with a tenor player setting it up, then bari sax joining in, then all saxes, then everyone. It's not a tenor feature, but it's a great vehicle for your tenor soloist and has meaty parts for all parties, making it an excellent selection for concerts and festivals. Wonderfully unique!
