This piece is in ABA form: the A section is original and the B section has the melody of "Easter Hymn" in an altered rhythm from that of the hymn. It makes a good prelude to the Easter service.

Organ Solo

These five chime pieces in Set 1 are short enough to be used as offertory pieces in the church service.  Three pieces are original compositions and two are based on hymn-tunes.  The associated audio file is that of Chime Piece No. 3, a computer-generated Finale file.  Therefore, you will not hear chimes but a full organ sound.  I include it to give you a sense of the music.  I plan in the future to replace it with a chimes recording.

Ten Short Chime Pieces, Set 1, Nos. 1 to 5

This piece is in ABC form.  The A section is a counter melody to the melody of "Cradle Song" which is in the B section.  The C section combines both melodies.  A simple yet effective piece for the Christmas season.

Prelude on "Cradle Song"

This piece makes a great Postlude for Christmas season.  In a trumpet tune style (phrase followed by answering phrase) with slightly modern harmonies.

Trumpet Tune on "Mendelssohn"

This piece for general use is suitable to be used as a postlude in the church service.  It is basically Chime Piece No. 3 with an added introduction and "C" section (ABACA).  It sounds well using full organ.

Fanfare and Recessional

This is another great postlude for Christmas.  The piece is in ABA form, with the melody of "Adeste Fideles" in the B section, in the pedal (optional octaves).  The A section has a melody in the pedals under sixteenth-note figurations.

These four pieces are suitable for a Christmas service.  Each is available separately.  An audio file is found with each individual compostion.

Four Christmas Preludes

This second set of five chime pieces also has two based on hymn-tunes and three original compositions.  The audio file attached is a Finale recording of Chime Piece No. 7 (hymn-tune "Easter Hymn") which has a full organ sound; I plan to add a chimes recording at a later date.  This piece (#7) doesn't have to be played solely with chimes; a fuller registration with a solo Trumpet stop will sound good also.

Ten Short Chime Pieces, Set 2, Nos. 6 to 10

This hymn-tune is a beloved favorite of the members of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (now called Community of Christ).  It first appeared in the "Saints' Hymnal" of 1933.  This is a straight-forward presentation of the melody.  Suitable for a prelude or offertory.

Meditation on "The Old, Old Path"

This piece is in two sections.  After a chromatic introduction the first has the melody presented with intervening phrases. The second has the melody in the pedal division with accompanying sixteenth note figurations.  This piece was specifically written with the Aeolian pipe organ of Webster Baptist Church, Webster, New York in mind.  The organ is enclosed in four divisions across the front of the sanctuary:  from left to right there is the Choir division, Pedal division, Swell division and then the Great.  The accompanying sixteenth note figures are played on the Choir and Great divisions, thereby creating an echo effect.  The audio file with this piece is played on that organ.

Meditation on "St. Louis"

This piece for the Christmas season starts with a variation of the melody in an unusual key then modulates to the key of D in the middle section.  That is followed by the refrain of "The First Nowell' with a different accompaniment.  Makes a useful prelude or possible offertory.

This piece makes a suitable postlude for a church service.  It is in AABA form.  The melody of "In Babilone" is found in the B section, in the pedal, in a slightly different rhythm than that of the hymn-tune.  Companion piece is "Prelude on In Babilone".

Postlude on "In Babilone"

This piece is suitable for a prelude to the church service.  It is basically a manuals-only piece; pedal is added in the final two measures.  Words commonly used for this hymn-tune are "There's a wideness in God's mercy".  Companion piece is "Postlude on In Babilone".

Prelude on "In Babilone"

This piece is a great postlude for Christmas church service.  The figuration at the beginning is similar to that of Mulet's Carillon-Sortie.  Difficulty similar to Carillon-Sortie without the hard section..
