Proud of Me

This highly dramatic, lushly scored wind ensemble work is full of imagery that will take players and listeners on an epic journey through the desert on an Arabian horse as a mysterious rider races through an intensely rhythmic course across the burning sands. After a quiet rest at an oasis under a full moon, the sun rises to find the rider and her courageous stallion once again racing into the sunrise for a triumphant and inspiring ending. All percussion parts are completely notated, and any wind players on hand can easily cover the crucial auxiliary part.

The Desert's Eyes

This exciting, authentically written work is a tribute to cultural unity using four contrasting Afro-Cuban styles seamlessly connected: guaguanco, son montuno, bolero, and Afro-Cuban 6/8. It was adapted for big band from Michele's wind symphony which premiered at the 2023 CBDNA conference. This jazz suite adaptation was premiered by UNT One O'Clock Lab Band in 2023. Minimum percussion requirements include drum set, congas, and auxiliary percussion. (The auxiliary percussion part can be covered by an extra wind player.) All rhythm section parts are fully notated.
