Mjolnir

Mjolner is a concerto for timpani accompanied by either piano or wind ensemble. The music loosely follows the Norse mythology surrounded Thor, God of Thunder, and his hammer, Mjolner. The piece is cast in three movements. Each movement represents part of the general atmosphere of the stories from the mythology. The soloist throughout the piece functions as the hammer itself!
