Mombo Theme

This tune has two possibilities regarding performance. If you play the Trumpet, Alto, Tenor, and Trombone parts, you will get a real strong lead sheet type of arrangement. If the players play the Trpt. 2nd Alto, 2nd Tenor, 2nd Trombone, the resulting music will be an arrangement with harmonized parts. This creates a lot of opportunities for a large group of players, such as an improvisation class or whatever is appropriate. The tune is Salsa oriented and I suggest letting the pianist start with the montuno, have the rhythm fall in, and then hit with horns. This tune is very good in teaching the Latin groove that it establishes. The solos section AABA and works well.
