Here are a few words Jefferson wrote, “Monticello; where has nature spread so rich a mantle under the eye? mountains, forest, rocks [and] rivers” . . . “[Where I] remain in the bosom of my family, my farm and my books” . . . “I am as happy nowhere else, and in no other society, and all my wishes end, where I hope my days will, at Monticello.”
