Marked, Legato and "Hushed, with infinite tenderness," the music begins quietly and soon you'll hear a familiar paraphrase and realize it is quoting Schubert's Ave Maria. All parts remain in first position and the challenge lies in the long sustained lines marked by fairly simple changes in meter. The finale passages at the end burst from the key of G to the bright key of B major and marked "Radiant." The composer arranged this for string orchestra for the 2006 film soundtrack "Children of Men." It is a unique work!
