Mr. Whimsical

Mr. Whimsical is an odd piece that is just as humorous as it is challenging. Originally written for big band as part of my "Louie's Day Off" album, has been arranged for sax quartet. Mr. Whimsical, while not having any improvisatory elements, has large influence from jazz and blues music. Before I talk about this piece I have to explain what "Louie's Day Off" is. Several years back I stared making my dream game, but it was a very demanding task. So I decided to start smaller and make a more manageable game. I created a small guy named Louie, he works a 9-5 job and he gets 1 day off a year. The game opens with Louie about to enjoy his free day when other characters keep asking him for help and to "solve their quest" making his day off a full work load. One of the characters that Louie would encounter on his journey would be a cloud named Mr. Whimsical, who would constantly annoy Louie and make the levels more difficult by changing the weather. Louie would eventually have to battle the cloud and put a stop to his mischievous games. Louie's Day Off release date is not certain, but I plan on releasing an album of some of the music in Q2 of 2024.
