The first band arrangement of "My Vermont" was created for the Rutland City Band of Rutland, Vermont--the oldest continuous municipal band in the United States. The melody is in the style of a state song or 19th-century hymn. This arrangement is intended for community players, as well as school groups. None of the individual parts requires particular virtuosity, but at the same time every instrument has its own voice. The high passages for Trumpet 1 include alternate notes on the staff.
