Composer and conductor Greg Onofrio has been serving in the music ministry and concert music community for over 40 years. He received his Doctorate in Music Composition from the Cleveland Institute of Music in 1992, where he studied with the renowned orchestral composer Donald Erb. He received his Doctorate in Music Composition from the Cleveland Institute of Music in 1992, where he studied with the renowned orchestral composer Donald Erb. Greg's compositions cover a wide range of ensembles, styles and genres, from works for solo instruments to large orchestra with chorus, to music for film and television. His compositions, orchestrations and arrangements have been performed by choirs, ensembles and orchestras throughout the country, in worship services, concerts and stage productions. His "Fanfare for Canticle of the Sun," for large brass choir was commissioned as the processional piece for the World Youth Day Opening Mass with Pope John Paul II in 1993. He has received awards and honors in music composition from The Colorado Council on the Arts and Humanities, Southern Methodist University, June in Buffalo Music Festival and The Kansas City Symphony Orchestra. In addition to original compositions, Dr. Onofrio has arranged and orchestrated over 300 songs and hymns from the sacred and secular repertoire, producing numerous studio recordings. Greg has served as conductor of the Colorado Symphony Orchestra ("Cinco de Mayo Festival" 2012), the Centennial Philharmonic Orchestra (Denver), the Aurora Symphony (Colorado), the Denver Pops Orchestra and the Westminster Symphony Orchestra (Colorado). In addition to these established orchestras, Greg has formed and conducted community orchestras in Spokane, Washington and Amarillo, Texas. As a choral conductor, Greg has served as music director for church choirs in Colorado, Texas, Ohio and Washington. He currently serves as Director of Music and Liturgy for St. Mary's Catholic Cathedral and Director of the Diocesan Choir in Amarillo, Texas. Apart from his musical life, Greg is a competitive distance and ultra-trail runner. Among his notable running accomplishments are several completions of the Boston Marathon. He and his wife Carol are also accomplished mountaineers, having climbed together all 53 peaks over 14,000 feet in Colorado -- "The Grand Slam." Greg is also an award-winning landscape and wildlife photographer, with multiple published works. Greg and Carol currently reside in Amarillo, Texas. They have two adult sons.  show less
