Teaching and conducting professionally since 1985, Horace Scruggs is an active musician residing in Central Virginia. Horace holds Bachelors of Music Education with a concentration in voice from Longwood University, and a Masters in Music Education with a choral conducting concentration from Shenandoah Conservatory. He also holds a Certificate in Music Production from Berklee College of Music. Horaces musical experience is a varied one. He has taught all grade levels (K-12) and has worked professionally with school, community, and church choirs and ensembles. He has also conducted all-county and all-district choirs throughout Virginia. A multi-instrumentalist and a recording studio owner, he has produced recordings for many local musicians, bands, and choirs.Presently, he teaches 4 levels of choral music, Class Piano and Guitar, and Music Technology at Fluvanna County High School. He is also the conductor/music director of the Fluvanna Community Singers. In both roles his choirs regularly perform his choral compositionsWriting choral music is a constant process for Horace as every year he has four or five ensembles that he tries to write at least one composition or arrangement. With this personal goal every year his composition as full of fresh and exciting sounds.
