She has been heard on NYC's WQXR-FM, on Carnegie Recital Hall, led and performed with Brioso Woodwind Quintet in the Lincoln Center Program for area schools. She earned her M.M. degree from The Juilliard School in performance after a B.M. in music education from Ithaca College, as well as an Associate in Theology. Markovich was the late Leon Russianoff's teaching assistant. As an award-winning performer and teacher, Markovich became the clarinet instructor at the University of Akron in the late '70s where she performed, taught clarinet, coached ensembles, and was a clinician for music festivals. Once principal clarinetist under Louis Lane's baton, she now freelances in improvisational worship in the Nashville, TN area. After over twenty years of experience as a director/teacher from elementary to professional level, Markovich (at 65) discovered a hidden ability to customize, arrange, and compose for mixed level groups, both classical style and contemporary worship, instrumental and choral. Her tone poem called "Emergence" was premiered by the Spring Hill Orchestra on October 26, 2019, since followed by more premieres and commissions for orchestra and chamber music. On April 13, 2021, "The Dabbling Duck" was premiered by the Arkansas Symphony River Rhapsodies Chamber Series, and "The Looking Glass: King for a Day" selected for the 2022 International Composers Festival in Sussex, UK. When she's not behind the computer composing or writing a novel, you will find her working to END ARTISTIC ATTRITION through her non-profit, http://globalpowernetwork.org. If you'd like a Zoom meeting to discuss a composition or commission, she'd love to collaborate and/or customize.
