Now the Day is Over

This medium level large ensemble, for nine performers, represents the composer's lullaby to his son. Based on a 19th-century English hymn and reminiscent of Renaissance era melodies, the composition has a simple yet deceptively sophisticated atmosphere of peace and tranquility. Instrumentation includes: bells, two marimbas (low A), two vibraphones (with mallets plus two bows and two triangle beaters), chimes, crotales (with mallets and triangle beaters), piano, 32" timpani, two suspended cymbals, sizzle cymbal, two triangles, tam tam, concert bass drum and mark tree. In addition, a part for piano or synthesizer is also included.
