O Praise the Name (Anastasis)

This anthem was the result of a collaboration of three contemporary Christian composers, who desired to create a piece of music that would emulate great hymns of the past both in format and inspiration - a "How Great Thou Art" for the current age. The captivating lyrics take us from the Cross to the Resurrection to the Second Coming, and the music features a lovely melody supported by engaging harmonies. There is a simplicity to the rhythm, in contrast with the highly syncopated rhythms of much contemporary music. This arrangement is genuinely artistic, with long unbroken phrases, to fully enhance the beauty of this hymn. While particularly suitable for the Easter season, this anthem is appropriate for year-round use.
