O Rest in the Lord

The sacred arias and solo pieces contained within this exquisite collection occupy an important place in the standard repertoire of many soloists. Thereby, Charles Gounod's Ave Maria, based on Johann Sebastian Bach's Prelude in C, as well as Adolphe Adam's O Holy Night have found their place here as well as the heartening aria O Rest in the Lord (Sei stille dem Herrn) from Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy's famous oratorio Elijah. Gwyn Arch has subtly and effectively arranged these and additional works by Georges Bizet, César Franck and other composers for choir. The sensitive piano accompaniment supports and refines the choral setting in an atmospheric manner.
