O Sacred Head Now Wounded

This piece for organ opens with a sinuous haunting melody on a solo voice which precedes a harmonization of the famous chorale melody in a short/long rhythmic pattern.  An expansive middle section for strings is followed by a return to the original material.  An effective piece for Holy Week.
