Concert Band Score & Parts

I originally wrote Parker's Lullaby for our orchestra to celebrate the
  birth of my first grandchild, Parker. Then I wanted to explore the sounds of
  the concert band with this piece...so away I went. A couple of fun things
  went into writing this piece originally. It had to be a lullaby, represent
  the anticipation of her arrival and the peacefulness of her sleeping, while
  contrasting her whimsical side with her bold and dramatic side. A couple of
  other things. The chords are rather "jazzy" because grandpa is a
  rather jazzy guy. At letter C, the drum part is grandpa being playful while
  the flute melody is her grandma doing the same. The ranges are comfortable
  allowing your band to sound full and confident. I think your horns will enjoy
  their heroic part in the climax. I'm very pleased with how this turned out.
  It was important that it kept its simplicity going from strings to band. I
  hope you enjoy it.

Parker's Lullaby For Band

A great piece to help young players become fans of music from the classic period. Playful in nature and melodic passages that lay nicely in the fingers. They will love the recapitulation and coda!

String Orchestra Score & Parts

I wrote this for my 5th &amp; 6th grade band to play for their spring
  concert. They loved it and it has been a part of our elementary band rotation
  ever since. For a short piece, directors will find an abundance of skills,
  notes, and style points to learn and master in this march. Clarinets are
  below the break.

Springtime March

Heres a great tune for your first-year band to show off their skills!
  Fast Break! is a high velocity contemporary piece that will make the band
  sound full while they perfect the syncopated rhythms, different articulations
  and dynamic contrasts. Though the tempo marking says 140+, it sounds great
  even at slower tempos. The band will love the trade-offs between the
  percussion and the winds. The snare part has some easy 16th note rhythms to
  challenge the early bloomers and the clarinet part stays below the break.

Fast Break!

Packin' My Bags is a great tune for more advanced jazz bands at the
  beginning of the season as well as the hungry jazz looking to improve their
  chops and style. This shuffle tune featuring the saxes is styled after the
  Buddy Rich tune, "Groovin' Hard." The sax soli builds to a shout
  chorus where the band can blow. Lead trumpet plays up to Bb and your guitar
  player plays the melody with the saxes for a really neat blend. The solo
  section is straight-ahead concert F Blues. Great for showing off your budding
  blues players. Have fun!

Bahama Mamas Pajamas-Written for the drumline at our school the spring of 2020, Covid prevented us from performing itUNTIL THIS YEAR! This funky-latin drumline feature allows every section to learn and master a ton of rudiments and visuals that make this piece a blast to play. Written for a smaller version of drumline instrumentation with snares, quads, 3 basses, but no cymbals. The mallet parts are simple and repetitive enough for even inexperienced keyboard players to learn and can be played by any two mallets or SYNTH. We used a Steel Drum sound on synth and it was cool. There is also an easy drumset part that also has some solo time! Laying the groundwork for more advanced pieces, this tune will challenge your young drummers while giving them something fun to play.

Bahama Mama's Pajamas

Percussion Ensemble Collection

Take your band on a wild ride with this menacing concert opener. The piece begins in the midst of an intense battle between two medieval warriors. The scene fast-forwards to the future where we find one warrior stealthily stalking the other. Suddenly, he rushes the warrior-ready to strike. The two battle fiercely until uniting in the end! This dynamic piece will keep your percussionists happy as they explore new sounds, techniques, and effects throughout the work. Every section gets equal treatment of the melody and counter-melody. Shock Factor

"Anew" was composed to provide a musical soundtrack to life
  when you come through a difficult patch and feel alive again! I've worked
  with so many young people who struggle with the many stressors we all deal
  with and come out the other side better than ever. This piece has many
  sections that represent the discovery of new-found abilities to do amazing
  things for the first time. These sections are woven together with thematic
  material. Woodwind players will love the fun runs and solo spots. Everyone in
  the brass section plays lyrical and heroic material that will tell a story.
  Percussion, I didn't forget about you. This is a great piece for bands with
  large percussion sections who will appreciate a challenge. Strong mallet
  players and advanced timpanists will need to stay on their toes with this
  piece. I believe your students will find the sentiments in this piece and the
  fun of the parts a most enjoyable combination. Enjoy! CP

Anew!

Instrument Type

This was inspired by and written to celebrate the wedding of my son and
  his beautiful wife. Put yourself in a beautiful church or cathedral full of
  family and friends. All the attendants have taken their place at the alter
  with the groom. The anticipation of everyone seeing the bride for the first
  time is growing. Cue her grand entrance music! Enter-The Bride. This piece
  is intended to announce The Bride in a classic Grande fashion. The organ and
  trumpet parts are at the Medium difficulty level. The trumpet part plays up
  to A above the staff and the organ part has a pedal part. The piece is about
  1:30 long.

Trumpet Solo with Organ

A brooding little piece in D Dorian, your first and second year students
  will enjoy this dramatic piece. Students will learn to play contrasting parts
  and easy harmony within the first notes they learn early on. The clarinet
  part stays below the break with exception of the optional divide taking
  your more advanced players above the break. Because some percussionists bloom
  faster than others, this snare part uses a variety of eighth and sixteenth
  note rhythms. For a flare of contemporary sounds, your students will enjoy
  the FIERCE clusters building tension to the Joyful resolution in C Major.
  Illustrating what it can be like to struggle and fight for something better
  in the end.

Never Look Back!

Here is another drumline ensemble piece that focuses on specific skills (Paradiddles Triplets) while still being fun to learn and perform. The two keyboard parts can be played by any two keyboards or even synth. Your group will love that it sounds like a video game and has slick exchanges between the sections. This tune is wide open for visual choreo too! Have fun.

Pepperoni Paradiddle Triplet Soup

I composed this piece for my first grand-child, Parker. The piece is in
  two parts. The first is the Anticipation of her arrival. The two-note motif
  set as minor thirds are to symbolize her mother singing her nameParker.
  The motif is stated three times to represent the trimesters and the
  anticipation builds with stacked quartal harmonies. This builds to measure 7
  when we get Parkers Arrival. The first statement of the theme is set in
  three parts (Vln1, Vln2, &amp; Cello) or as an optional trio representing
  Parker and her loving parents. The melody is shifted to the 2nd Violin and
  Violi leading to the change of character and timbre at Letter C. The celli
  take over the melody in this Playful section. Violins and violi accompany
  the celli playing pizzicatos to emulate the strum of a guitar. The section
  builds with the full orchestra to a brief celebratory climax at Letter D. The
  initial two-note motif is restated again to begin the quiet ending to this
  lullaby. Sleep tight! Lyrics are set in the piano part for singing this song.

Parker's Lullaby

Picture being with your childhood friends sneaking into the old, haunted mansion on the end of the block. GHOST MANSION.  The intro is your creeping music. Once you're in, at letter A, the first spirit you see in the front room is a beautiful ballerina dancing her spooky choreography. 1ST violins play a gliss up to III position F-natural. Letter C brings you to our next room with a ghostly jazz quartet (optional drumset and piano part). As the music builds to letter E, we enter the Grand Ballroom where a gypsy celebration is in full swing! The tempo increases to the end whipping this piece into a frenzy. This one will LITERALLY increase their heart rate! Promise.

Ghost Mansion

A brooding little piece in E Dorian, your first- and second-year students will enjoy this majestic piece. Students will learn to play contrasting parts and easy harmony within the notes on the D A strings. The first violin does play up to B on the E string. For a flair of contemporary sounds, your students will enjoy the clusters building tension to the FIERCE ending.
