In Mark 4, the disciples faced a deadly storm while Jesus slept, feeling helpless and forgotten. Likewise, believers today often doubt Christ’s care in life’s darkest moments. Yet Christ rose and stilled the wind and waves with a word. Inspired by the hymn “Master, the Tempest Is Raging,” this piece contrasts turmoil and peace through driving piano and obbligato lines, then settles into a calm, harmonically rich duet section.
