This 2-part setting of a 15th-century carol features a beautiful piano accompaniment supporting light, ethereal voices that will enthrall audiences and/or worshippers as it emulates a choir of heavenly angles. It will enhance any Winter concert or Worship service and is appropriate for young voices or experienced singers. The accompaniment will require a Level four or above pianist.

Coventry Carol

The carol dates back to the 16th century. and was traditionally performed in Coventry in England as part of a mystery play depicting the Christmas story from the Gospel of Matthew:
The music contains a well-known early example of a" Picardy third" at the end. In the original play, this carol was sung by 3 women, so this SA setting is quite appropriate and keeps in mind the lyrical quality of young voices. The piano accompaniment requires Level 5 skills, or above. A great addition to a Winter concert or worship setting.

This SATB Chorale of Worship reveals the first words in the Bible and explores the Creation Story. Set in a chordal style accompanied by arpeggios on the piano this anthem is within the scope of  the average volunteer choir with a variety of ability levels and is appropriate for any service of worship.

Genesis 1 In The Beginning

Six parts of close harmony are reflected in the piano accompaniment. The vocal parts are sometimes reduced to just 2 parts to make this expressive piece easier to master by a slightly above-average chorale. Based on the Old Testament story of the "Flight From Egypt" this arrangement is appropriate for Christian or Jewish worship or general concert use. The pathos of the words is echoed in the minor mode, even the mood of the piece. The drama of the final ending makes it perfect to close the concert's first half, as it leaves the audience waiting eagerly to see what the 2nd half will offer.

Go Down Moses

Two Old Testament Scriptures, A Prayer for God's presence, Isaiah 55:6 and King David's Prayer, I Chronicles 29:11 set in a meditative style  mostly chordal with some counter-movement. SATB Appropriate for Christian or Jewish worship. Within the range and difficulty level of the average volunteer choir.

Canticle of Worship

A novelty arrangement that could have been used for an old-fashioned square dance, arranged for Soprano (d - eb'), Alto (Bb - c') and a part for Baritone or Changing Voice (F [with optional Eb] -middle c [with optional eb]). The range is appropriate for Middle School through 9th grade. Knee-slap-patch-clap rhythms are printed in the score in order to inject rhythm into the performance. This will be a very entertaining addition to a concert for any general audience.

A Scripture song, Col. 3:15-16, a New Testament lesson and an admonition to new Christians. SATB with piano accompaniment, guitar chords and features an accompaniment part for hammer dulcimer. Written in a meditative style and appropriate for general worship, the hammer dulcimer adds a noticable dimension to the music. The dulcimer is a folk instrument that has gained notable status and capable players can be found in almost every community. (Could be played on mandolin, or even a piano.) The range of the vocal parts is comfortable though the rhythms may be somewhat challenging, its appropriate for a slightly above average volunteer choir. The hammer dulcimer part is included in the score, and it is also broken out, all on one page. It would require an Intermediate to Advanced dulcimist.

Let The Word of Christ

Achoral  tribute to The Christ of Christmas and of the Resurrection..It begins with His humble birth, continues through his tragic crucifixion and finishes with His glorius resurrection and triumphant, everlasting reign over Heaven and Earth. The ranges are appropriate for young voices (Middle School or adult). Just under 3 min. it's intended for special music in Christian worship but is appropriate for school choirs' seasonal programming..

Born To Reign

Star of Hope was written in 1990 for the Memorial Middle School Mixed Choir in Houston TX. The ranges fit the young immature voices and the flowing accompaniment pulls the music together.
Each part has a melody of its own, then all three tunes fit together to produce a lush harmonic structure. The text meets the criteria for a winter concert, loosely pertaining to Christmas, with the "Star of Hope" being perceived as the Star that led Wise Men to worship the newborn baby who would bring peace, hope and love to the hearts of mankind, or simply as the Evening Star that grants wishes. It would fill a spot in a school Winter concert or a group of community singers, or even performed in a Christmas Worship service.

Star of Hope

A joyous new anthem with an ancient Hebrew vibe. Scored for SATB and piano with chords for guitar and optional parts for Trumpet, (plus a non-transposed synth-trumpet part), Flute and hammered dulcimer. All it needs is a tambourine. Appropriate for Christian or Hebrew worship, but the lyrics are generic enough to use for school choirs as well. (Its about SINGING!) The syncopation and tempo changes makes it fun to sing.
