Phanphare (pronounced like fanfare) is an original composition for euphonium quartet, written for a composition competition in June of 2018. Even though it wasn't selected as a winner, it still displays my compositional style very well. The main theme is fairly simple, accompanied by a rhythmic drone and added on to at various points throughout the composition. It has a driving-feel that is offset by a middle section that is somewhat uncharacteristic of what one might think of about a fanfare. It then returns to the main theme as the piece concludes, with an "uncharacteristic" fanfare ending soft and relaxed, rather than loud and flashy.
