PIANO CONCERTO No. 1

Piano Concerto No. 1 was commissioned by over 120 patrons, many being fans of Faulconer's work on the music for Dragon Ball Z, as well as patrons of his classical repertoire. His compositions include works for orchestra, various chamber ensembles, symphonic band, piano, choral music, songs, and electronic music, as well as works for film and television. Piano Concerto No. 1 for piano and orchestra is Faulconer's first work in the piano concerto genre. It was composed between 2022 and 2024. It's premiere recording, released January 28, 2025, features Faulconer as the solo pianist. The work is a post-romantic modern expression of the concerto form in the usual three movements, presenting fast, slow, and fast tempi. The first movement is a bold exposition; then follows a pastoral second movement, evoking serenity and beauty. The final movement features an exciting, assertive conclusion, ending in a fiery finish. This Concerto is recommended for a performance level including college to professional orchestra that would feature an advanced soloist or visiting artist.
