This series of musical obligatos is designed for my flute students and people
just like them -YOU!
In each Performance Obligato' I will include something for both the
younger flutist and those with a bit more experience.
While these are intended for a specific audience of members of The Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, the arranger does not imply
endorsement by the Church. Each accompaniment is straight out of the
hymn book or primary book.
For the Beauty of the Earth (Practical and Pretty #5) There are 4 obligatos in this set. The first verse (letter A) is a harmony part
with a rhythm that goes with the melody. The second verse (letter B) goes
up to high E and has a repeating rhythmic gesture. The third verse (letter C)
is lyrical and goes up to a high E. The fourth verse (letter D) is a lot like
letter C, but has more movement. The fourth verse is my favorite.
If you do not have an LDS hymnal, but your hymnbook has For the Beauty
of the Earth' in the key of G, this should work for you
Come Ye Thankful People (Practical and Pretty #11). There are 4 obligatos in this set. The first verse (letter A) has a range of low
F to middle G. The second verse (letter B) is upper middle register to high
D. It is flowing and I absolutely love it! The third verse (letter C) is rising
up into the higher register. Less complicated rhythms but goes up to high F.
The fourth verse (letter D) is a lot like the third verse but with more flowing
rhythms. Explore both and select between them for a performance.
This is set in the Key of F, so if you have it in another hymnal but in the
same key it should probably work.
