Prepare a Room for Me

For Holy Thursday, this setting of Herman Stuempfle's text is haunting, with both voices and accompaniment reminiscent of the time period of the hymn tune SOUTHWELL, circa 1579. Beginning in unison, moving to two-part and then full SATB, the anthem tells the story of the Last Supper and ends with a verse of thanksgiving for the gift of love. Optional C instrument and handbells add to the beauty of this piece.
