"Pro Magister a Ludos" was commissioned by the Eminence Independent Schools in memory of Dewayne "Coach D" Douglas. This concert march begins in D minor, for Coach D. It turns into F major as a celebration of his life. The percussion section is augmented by football helmets (used as snare drums), bouncing basketballs (which double as the bass drum), a referee whistle, clapping from the band members, and hitting a baseball from a tee into a net. The school's fight song is woven into the music in the second half. The final three notes of the piece, F, C, D, pay a final tribute – For Coach D.
