Puzzle Pieces

Puzzle Pieces is a minimalist work that allows the performers to be part of the composition process. Rather than a traditional score and parts, each player is given three sets of measures and a final measure. Once the conductor sets the tempo, each player decides which measure to play out of each set and for how long. As they progress, the measures become more intense rhythmically until the conductor cues the final measure and all players end the piece in unison. Clever, fun and creatively inspiring!
