An eerie tale from Inuit mythology comes alive in this concert band work that tells the story of a mysterious sea creature beneath the icy waters of Alaska. The creature emerges in the slow, mysterious opening before the piece explodes into intense cinematic energy. Dissonant harmonies and chromatic writing reinforce careful work with accidentals, while an expansive percussion section – including whirly tubes for all players! – drives the drama.
