Quintet No. 2

Quintet No. 2 for brass quintet is pensive and melancholy, yet ends with resolve. All five parts take the melody throughout. The slower tempo and independent phrases require good breath control from the performers. The piece begins in E-flat major and at measure 27 modulates to B-flat. The meter is 4/4 throughout except for a few 3/4 bars in the latter section. This work will contrast well with a fast and dramatic piece in a concert setting.
