"Race Against Time" is an exciting, yet accessible, programmatic piece for advanced middle school or early high school string orchestra with drum set and wind chimes. Written with string pedagogy in mind, there many skill-building techniques, repeated scale and finger patterns, and several musical and notational concepts are introduced to prepare your students for exciting new musical adventures to come. The drum set and wind chimes add color and support the rhythmic drive of the A section. The slower B section that arrives at 2.5 minutes into the work, is cinematic in sound and orchestration, leading back to an exciting ending. The duration of this piece is approximately 5 minutes.
