Reverie and Nocturne by Alexander Borodin arranged for SATB or AATB saxophone quartet. These two selections from Borodin's Petite Suite feature some of the same exotic harmonies found in his Polovtsian Dances. Alto sax 1 or soprano sax carries most of the melody but the other sax players in the quartet have plenty of enjoyable music to play. Rhythmically straightforward, the shift into concert G major pushes this piece to the moderate level. Frequent dynamic changes and the occasional tempo change encourage communication and musicianship among your sax players.
