Rock the Kanon

Working on a number of levels, this adaptation of the popular Pachelbel's Cannon is suitable for both pop and traditional programs. Following the familiar opening, the chart goes into a straight-ahead rock feel, with an improvised solo for the tenor sax. A short drum break leads into a statement of the melody by the horn sections, then it's back to the rock feel and the original melody, scored for the full band. A short acapella trumpet soli breaks up the action, then the saxes get the final statement of the melody. A great choice for high schools looking for a unique addition to their next program.
