In 1880 Johann Stauss, Jr. used themes from his operetta, Das Spitzentuch
der Konigin, for this orchestra piece.
Waltz II is the most famous melody. Eduard Strauss, Johanns harpist brother,
conducted the premier. The music has been used in many movies and TV
shows.
This reflective arrangement of Waltz II moves from the key of Bb to F and
back again. There is also a Pedal Harp version. The Pedal and Lever Harp versions may be
performed together. Both Pedal and Lever versions are of comparable
difficulty. The versions only differ in the pedal/lever markings and an
occasional harmony note.
