Sacred Place

Conceived in the format of a liturgical service, this 22-minute six-movement work with text sourced from famed naturalists to traditional Jewish prayer and written for Conspirare is a thoughtful and moving ode to our "sacred place," the earth. The composer describes it as "an ecological service that connects the old with the new, the sacred with the secular, and the individual with their community." Idiomatic part writing, beautiful solo opportunities, and a considerately constructed accompaniment for piano, violin, and cello make this a rewarding challenge for community and collegiate choirs. Movements are Opening Prayer; Amidah; Shema; Mi Shebeirach; Kaddish and Closing Prayer.
