While a ballad might seem a more conventional dedication, there is no question in the composer's mind that Kurt would vastly have preferred a samba, particularly one that transitions into something a little funkier, as happens during the bridge. Kurt's love of classic rock led to the choice for an overdrive guitar solo midway through the piece. The melody is a celebration of the infectious enthusiasm and simplicity Kurt Guter exuded throughout his life. Soloists are Trumpet 4 and Guitar. Doubles: Flugelhorns for all Trumpets. Trumpet range to D6.
