"Samba Lite" is an Alto Flute feature arranged for a large 17 piece Jazz Ensemble. It opens with a rubato section with Guitar (or Piano) and Alto Flute only introducing the audience to the mellow sound of the Alto Flute. It then goes into a slow Samba (150 beats/min) or fast Bossa. The Alto Flute primarily carries the melody, and there are two opportunities for improvisation for the featured instrumentalist. One is in the middle of the piece, and the other is at the end. There is also a four bar section with repeat that can be expanded to feature the rhythm section if desired.
