Scales By Ear Vol. 1

Welcome to Scales By Ear. This book serves as a resource for the band teacher. The teacher's edition includes transposed parts for any band instrument you wish to use for leading these call and response warmups. Students can more completely master their scales when they are learned by sound and feel and without reading a scale sheet. As a band teacher, however, it is tough to reach similar levels of understanding with the various challenges that band presents as a class. This book is an answer to the above challenges--a sequential approach to teaching major scales in a large ensemble setting. While warming up the band, call and respond these small phrases using 3 notes, 5 notes, and eventually an entire scale. We hope that these exercises will assist you in your mission: the more kids there are in music, the better the world is--especially when they play in the right key!
